At a large department store, the average number of years of employment for a cashier is 6.7 with a standard
deviation of 1.6 years, and the distribution is approximately normal. If an employee is picked at random, what is
the probability that the employee has worked at the store for over 9 years?
Hint:
Find the z value corresponding to 9 using the formula for z
z = (X-mean)/ standard deviation.
The probability greater than 9 corresponds to the area to the right of the z value you found for 9.
Make sure you understand how to find area to the right of a z value in the standard normal distribution. Read
