Researchers want to investigate whether there is a connection between smoking by pregnant women and premature birth. A researcher surveyed a number of women who had recently given birth to a single baby. Survey results show that 10% of the women had smoked regularly during the pregnancy. The probability of a premature birth for a smoker
was approximately 6%. The overall rate of premature birth among the women in the study was 4.3%.
