Increase
surface area for purposes of absorption
Intestinal villi, plural of villus are projections that
forms a surface mount. It is found in the digestive system, mainly in
intestines that majorly functions in the absorption of food. It is a second to metabolism,
it helps absorb nutrients in the intestines by expanding the surface area of the
organ. Moreover, this plays a major roles in aiding the process of metabolism –breaking
down of the food to be absorbed and, retrieved and delivered by the red blood
cells.
