Hello.

(x + 2y) • (x - 13y) Step by step solution :Step  1  :Equation at the end of step  1  : ((x2) - 11xy) - (2•13y2) Step  2  :Trying to factor a multi variable polynomial :

 2.1    Factoring    x2 - 11xy - 26y2

Try to factor this multi-variable trinomial using trial and error

Found a factorization  :  (x + 2y)•(x - 13y)

Final result : (x + 2y) • (x - 13y)

Have a nice day
Think of possible factors of 26.  2 and 13 are a prime example.

Factors of 26y^2 would then be 2y and 13 y.

Note that 13y - 2y = 11y.

Try these factors:  (x -2y  )(x + 13y  )

Check them by multiplication.  You must obtain x^2 + 11xy - 26y^2.
