Edwin Drake is known for being the first one to successfully drill for oil. He was able to do that by using piping to prevent the borahole to colapse.
Thomas Edison was the one who invented the light bulb, in the 19th century.
Henry Ford is the inventor of the Model T, an automobile produced in 1927, which is known for being the first affordable automobile.
The Wright Brothers were the ones that invented the airplane, and also built and flew the first successful airplane in 1903.
Cyrus W. Field created the Atlantic Telegraph Company in 1858, and was able to lay the first telegraph cable across the Atlantic Ocean.
The Duryea Brothers were the ones who invented the first automobile, and created the Duryea Motor Wagon Company in 1895.
And last, Alexander Graham Bell, who invented the first practical telephone, in 1876.
