This act gave the President the power and authority to hire additional confidential staff. It also allowed the President to reorganize the executive branch for two years following a legislative veto and certain constitutional limits. The Act eventually led to the development or the foundation of the Executive Office or Department of the US.
As the nation has grown, so have the powers of the president. As President Roosevelt said, more and more government departments were created, and it was the president's job to oversee those departments. The Reorganization Act gave the president more power by providing him with a support staff and advisers to help him.
