The logistic growth occurs in the environment where there is a limited number of resources and, thus the population cannot grow on exponentially. In such a scenario, the maximum population size that can be supported by the environment is called its carrying capacity.
If we plot the logistic growth curve, then the population levels off after growing for a certain time and we get an S-shaped graph.
An example is the growth of fungus in a test tube. The fungus grows in the test tube for some time but, then its growth levels off as the nutrients provided in the test tube get depleted.
