Blue marbles, green marbles and red marbles are in a ratio of 5 to 7 to 8 in a box. if the total number of marbles is 240, how many green marbles are in the box?

The fraction of marbles in the box that is green = ⁷/₍₅₊₇₊₈₎
                                                                               
                                                                                =  ⁷/₂₀

If there are 240 marbles in the box, then the number of green marbles = (240 × ⁷/₂₀) = 84 marbles

∴ 84 of the marbles in the bag are green.
