The sperm will not survive the acidic conditions in the vagina
The fluid produced by the urethral glands neutralizes any residual acidity in the urethra (left there because of the urine that passed previously), that way it won't harm the sperm. For the same reasons, helps to neutralize the acidity of the vagina.
