He was a prisoner of war in Siberia.

She sold tea to support her family.

She was in Tokyo to be with a man, Tsuruishi but he was killed in an accident.

Ryo felt it was the right choice.
Ryo makes the right choice going to Tokyo as she has to move on with her life and life is filled with constant changes.
