Lighting for a film is more directed on what the camera sees in relation to the actors. Lighting for a theatrical production uses all angles and creates the right lighting for all aspects of the performance that the director wants to be visualized.

Film is easier with a still image .Theatrical production is all look in one direction and the light is pointing towards the stage.
