A 20inch board is to be cut into 3 pieces so that the second piece is 4 times as long as the first piece and the third piece is 5 times as long as the first piece. If x represents the length of the first piece, find the lengths of all three pieces

Let x= first piece, 4x= second piece, 5x = third piece.
x+4x+5x=20
10x=20
x=2
Therefore the pieces are 2in, 8in, and 10in.
