Adam is building a rectangular swimming pool. the perimeter of the pool must be no more than 120 feet. if the length of the pool is 22 feet, write and solve an inequality that represents what the width of the pool must be
Show all work

Respuesta :

The perimeter is multiply the length by 2 and adding it to the width times 2:

P = 2L +2W

The perimeter can't be more than 120 and the length is 22 feet.

So 2L + 2W has to be less than or equal to 120:

2L + 2W ≤120

2(22) + 2W ≤120

44 + 2W≤120

2W ≤ 120 -44

2W≤76

W ≤ 76/2

W ≤ 38 feet

2L +2W = Perimeter

But perimeter of the pool must be no more than 120 feet

So

2*22+2W <= 120

44 + 2W <= 120

Subtract 44 from both sides

44 + 2W - 44 <= 120 - 44

2W <= 76

Divided both sides by 2.

W <= 38

The width of the pool must be less than or equal 38 feet
