How can i run for Club President if half of the people hate me?

This is for my science club. I really want to be a club President, especially because it looks good on college applications, but i also want to be more involved in my school and have a great time. The problem is so many people wanna be club presidents and my friend is popular and signing up. So how should I be elected? I have to prepare a speech

try to stay true to who you are and find a good reason as to why you should be a great leader such as if you are in any AP classes or if you have demonstrated good leadership skills in the past. And if everything else fails people like food so you could bake/cook something cool that's has to do with science. Good luck!
