A canon is a musical style of composition where the same melody is play in sequence. It has an initial melody called the leader which is then imitated by the follower melodies after a specific duration of time. This means that one part imitates the previous or primary part, though starting at a different time interval. Though the repetition of the music/melody is a "round" process, there is no limitation on the number of times the imitation is for.
