The most obvious answer is to write this into a calculator and read the result, but if you're asking this, I'm assuming you're not allowed to.
This fraction can be easily calculated by hand in two ways: either you remember that
[tex] \dfrac{7}{8} = \dfrac{7}{2^3} [/tex]
Which means that dividing by 8 is the same ad dividing by two three times:
[tex] 7\div 2 = 3.5,\quad 3.5 \div 2 = 1.75,\quad 1.75 \div 2 = 0.875 [/tex]
Or you can think that 7/8 is 1/8 away from one. Just like before, you can compute 1/8 as
[tex] 1\div 2 = 0.5,\quad 0.5 \div 2 = 0.25,\quad 0.25 \div 2 = 0.125 [/tex]
And so 7/8 is
[tex] \dfrac{7}{8} = 1-\dfrac{1}{8} = 1-0.125=0.875 [/tex]
