Hi there!
So we know that:
x = -2
y = 8
And we have this equation to solve : 4x = [tex]\frac{y}{xy - 4y}[/tex]
To solve the equation, you need to replace the letters "x" and "y" in the equation with their value :
4 x -2 = [tex]\frac{8}{(-2x8) - (4x8)}[/tex]
Now all you need to do is calculate everything:
4 × -2 = -8
-2 × 8 = -16
4 × 8 = 32
-8 = [tex]\frac{8}{-16 - 32}[/tex]
-16 + -32 = -48
-8 = [tex]\frac{8}{-48}[/tex]
[tex]\frac{8}{-48} \left \{ {{divided by 8 = 1} \atop {divided by 8 = -6}} \right. = \frac{1}{-6}[/tex]
-8 = -[tex]\frac{1}{6}[/tex]
I'm not sure if this would be the simplest form you are looking for..
If there's anything, just let me know! :)
