In a Venn-diagram, the number of people in the orange circle owns cats and those in the blue circle owns dogs.

Now, the number of people in the over-lapping area owns both cats and dogs.

Therefore,

11 people own just cats.

6 people own cats as well as dogs.

Total number of cat-owners = ( 11 + 6 )

                                               = 17

15 people own just dogs

6 people own dogs and cats.

Total number of dog-owners = (15 + 6)

                                                = 21

Hence, we can conclude, the number of cat owners being 17 and the number of dog-owners being 21.
