Faustus Faustus is the protagonist of the play. He is a brilliant scholar who makes a deal with Lucifer to exchange his soul for magical power. He later regrets his decision, but it’s too late and his soul is carried away to hell.

Mephastophilis Mephastophilis is a demon that Faustus calls upon to help him with magic. He turns into Faustus's servant in his pact with the devil.

Valdes and Cornelius Valdes and Cornelius are friends of Faustus who teach him the art of black magic.
