Principle of unity:
The phrase "WE, THE PEOPLE" is of singular importance because it stipulates that the power and authority of the federal government of the United States of America does not come from the various states or the people of the various states, but from an entity that is identified as the People of the United States of America, with the Constitution serving as a compact or contract between the People of the United States of America, the various states, and the new entity: the federal government of the United States of America. The importance of this language lies in the idea that the government does not derive its power only from the various states.
The preamble was a statement by the framers that introduced the constitution. The principle that I have selected is that of "The Rule of Law." Here is an outline to write the paragraph;
- 1. Definition of the rule of law
- 2. Examples of the rule of law
- 3. Importance of the rule of law
- 4. How it supports the ideas in the preamble
The rule of law refers to the superiority of the law over every individual and institution in the country. For instance, whatever the law has to say about the procedures in the prosecution of accused persons should be followed to the letter.
No prominent person can use his or her position to influence this. The rule of law is important because it ensures justice and equality for all.
In the preamble, this principle was highlighted in the establishment of the constitution of the United States by which all citizens must abide.
