A parallel equation has the same slope but a different Y intercept than the other equation. To solve for it, the best way is to use y-y1=M(x-x1) with Y1 being your y coordinate of a given point, M being the same slope, and X1 being the X coordinate of the point.
Two lines are parallel if they have the same slope. For example, the line 4x – 5y = 12 has a slope of m = 4/5. The slope of every line parallel to this line would have to be m = 4/5.
