Fruit represents every opportunity life gives to us and the idea is to fully appreciate and do something with it so that it does not go away (don't let good things rot for want of using). The sleeping part can be related to rest in appropriate times, not to think about work or study when one is relaxing before eating, that is, rest and eating so that energy is regained to do the tasks of daily life.
