Hi!
So, 32/4=8. Each side is 8 feet long, with a square area of 64 ft^2. If you devide 32/3, that's 10.6 feet you painted. That aside, it's not what the question asks.
If you painted 1/3, and there are four sides, 12 can be used as it is the lcm (least common multiple). 4/12 can be used here, I believe.
If you found this especially helpful, I'd appreciate if you'd vote me Brainliest for your answer, if other people did not provide a helpful answer (but, I'm sure they did!). I want to be able to assist more users one-on-one! :)

Answer:
¹/₁₂
Step-by-step explanation:
Data:
32 ft fence
4 equal sections
⅓ section painted
Calculations:
(a) Length of a section
l = 32 ft/4 sections = 8 ft/section
(b) Length of section painted
Painted = ⅓ × 8 ft = ⁸/₃ ft
(c) Fraction of fence painted
Fraction = (⁸/₃)/32
= ⁸/₃ × ¹/₃₂ Divide numerator and denominator by 8
= ⅓ × ¼ Multiply numerators and denominators
= ¹/₁₂
You painted ¹/₁₂ of the fence.
