In 1952, Minard did a study on the effects of discrimination and prejudice are influenced by society.

Minard studied African American and Caucasian coal miners and found that they worked together completely integrated with little racial tensions, but in their home lives had little to no interaction with other races. He believed that this study was proof that prejudice and discrimination were dependent upon social norms.

Minard was a civil engineer who was profoundly know for his contributions in the field of civil engineering. Minard conducted a study in 1952 with an object to obtain the effects of prejudice and discrimination on people.

Prejudice: It is treating someone unjustly just because they are members of a particular social group.

Discrimination: It is treating people unjust on the basis of caste, creed, gender, or religion.

Conclusion of Study

Minard found that the coal miners work together at their workplace without any racials tensions among them but when they are at home, they have to face discrimination.

Therefore the study reflected the conditions of prejudice and discrimination in the country.
