Ella is tiling his kitchen. The kitchen is a rectangle measuring 3 1/2m by 5 3/4m.
Tiles come in packs that cost £15 per pack. Each pack covers an area of 1m^2.
Just in case he breaks some tiles, Ella decides to buy more packs than he needs.
He buys an extra 10% of the number of tiles he needs.
How much does Ella pay for this tiles?

first find the area of the kitchen (im going to use decimals instead of fractions)

3.5 × 5.75 = 21.125 m^2

this means 22 packs of tiles are needed (round up to whole number) as each pack covere 1m^2

10% of 22 packs = 2.2

round up to nearest whole number

Ella buys 3 extra packs of tiles.

22 + 3 = 25 packs of tiles

find cost of 25 packs of tiles

25 × 15 = £330
