New research by Nina Jablonski and George Chaplin has led to the discovery that women across the world generally produce 3-4% less melanin in their skin than men.
They suggest that this is probably due to the fact that women have much higher calcium requirements during their reproductive years.
Why is fair skin attractive?
- Researchers have found that men are subconsciously attracted to lighter skin because of its associations with purity, innocence, modesty, and goodness, while women feel that darker skin is associated with sex, masculinity, and danger.
