The cave painting on the image is representing the animals, or rather the environment that was seen by the artist/s of the painting in their surroundings. We can see that there are wild horses depicted on it, but also a rhino. The wild horses were probably a prey animal, while the rhino was a respected animal and feared one, thus they were avoiding it. The artist/s that painted it were the Cro-Magnons, early Homo sapiens in Europe, in what is now France. The reason why it was painted is probably because the artist wanted to depict the environment, but also maybe for teaching the youngsters about the animals from early age, so that they know which ones are to be hunted, and which ones to be avoided.

The depictions made by the picture above shows the wildlife in ancient life, a few horses in a group, a pig and a hippo can be seen in the painting, which is probably made on stones.

Archeological study will help to show that there were horses and pigs in existence during long time back and were evolved long time back.

It can be seen that the horses are in groups whereas the hippo is alone, which will also help in proving that during the ancient times the horse in numbers and hippo were slowly becoming extinct.

This is also an indication of the fact that artists were present in the ancient period, as well as to show that the artist used stones and rocks to carve them into art.

The artists of such paintings and carvings were also known as Cro-Magnons, who were regarded as the homo-sapiens of early French Civilization.
