The population was afraid of Justinian religious ideas, who wanted to please Western ideas (the cult images is an example). Throughout 3 days, population set on fire many buildings, including Hagia Sophia. The revolt was contained by the army that invaded the Hippodrome and killed almost 30.000 people.
