The first modern chemical textbook was written by ANTOINE LAVOISIER.
Antoine Lavoisier was a french chemist and he was the one who named two of the elements in the periodic table, that is oxygen and hydrogen. He wrote the first chemistry textbook in 1789; the book was written in french. He is popularly called the 'Father of modern chemistry'. He made a lot of contribution to the development of chemistry during his life time, his contributions include: discovery of the role of oxygen in combustion, he constructed the metric system, he established that sulphur was an element, etc.
