You might think of how parents look like their children. Their shared characterisitecs are coded in the DNA passed down by the parent. This DNA is in all cells, which copies itself as one cells divides into two. Do you think this process is the same for all cells?

This condition is not the same for all cells in sex cells, for example, cell division is not mitosis (in one cell it is divided into two) but meiosis in which the number of chromosomes is halved. In division two successive divisions are experienced, with the ability to generate four haploid cells (n). In organisms with sexual reproduction oocytes and sperm (gametes) are produced.
