The enrichment model offers the following advantage to students who are gifted: The major part of the day is spent in the regular classroom where students experience the same social environment as the other students.

a. Students are excused from completing certain assignments in their regular school classes that are often irrelevant.
b. The model allows the regular classroom teacher to maintain the major responsibility for educating the student who is gifted.
c. Students may benefit from experiences that allow them to work on their own interests at their own level of ability.
