1. Antarctica is a frozen land, so cold and icy that no trees can grow there. Yet scientists have discovered fossils (remains preserved in rock) of ancient trees in Antarctica. What do you think this means

Respuesta :

Answer:

Antarctica is found to be comprised of fossilized trees in its rocks. These trees were deposited long time back in the geological time scale. They are often found to be comprised of coal beds. This helps in understanding that the Antarctica was once located in the tropical region, where large number of trees were present, which were died and buried under the soil and rocks, and as the tectonic plates are continuously moving from one place to another, so the Antarctica has now reached the south pole of earth.

The presence of this fossilized trees gives an idea of how plates move from one location to another around the globe.

The evolution of the Antarctica Climatic condition was because of the Antarctica continent plates movement.

The theory of continental drift explains that plate that forms the lithosphere of continent continue to move and has been in process for million of years ago.

  • The continent of Antarctica was previously located at further north where it was warmer and trees could grow because of favorable climatic condition.

  • The movement of the continent plates contributes to relocation of the continent to the south pole where temperature is below zero..

Therefore, the evolution of the Antarctica Climatic condition was because of the Antarctica continent plates movement.
