Because Harry and Voldemort where tied to each other by their souls first when Voldemort tried to kill him when he was a baby but the spell rebounded and a piece of his soul went into harry, then that connection grew stronger when he used Harry's blood to make him stronger only making both of them an anchor of each other keeping them alive, so when Voldemort tried to kill Harry again in the deathly hallows he killed the piece of his soul that was in Harry allowing Harry to survive.
