No being able to see there families. They are gone away to fight with other men, the only women that they would see are the nurses/care takers. (Since women were not aloud to fight or join any wars during this time.) It was very tough for them both mentally and physically. It drove some of the solders crazy, even after the war ended.

I think the hardest thing for a soldier would be living in the trenches. because it is very dirty and crowded in the trenches.  it was very hard for the soldiers to walk around and most soldiers had trench foot which made it very awful to move around and most of the has their feet cut off.
