The top speed of the three-toed sloth on the ground is about 1/4 foot per second. The top speed of a giant tortoise on the ground is about 1/3 foot per sec. How much longer would it take a three-toad sloth than a giant tortoise to travel 10 feet on the ground?
The speed of the sloth would be at least 4 seconds per 1 foot. 4 times 10 is 40. The speed of the tortoise is at least 3 seconds per 1 foot. 3 times 10 is 30. 40-30=10.
