Respuesta :

After Macbeth gets the prophecy he now thinks he will be king. Macbeth now wants to be king and he thinks the only way to do that is to kill King Duncan. After Banquo gets the prophecy he does not desire to know anymore about it. Banquo does not take what the witches said seriously. Macbeth is greedy and desires to know more, and Banquo takes it as a joke. Macbeth is more greedy than Banquo, and Banquo is more appreciative.

After the prophecy they both become suspicious of each other. Macbeth killed King Duncan and Banquo questions how the prophecy came true. Macbeth thinks Banquo knows that he killed King Duncan so he then plots to kill him.

After listening to the prophecies by the three witches, Banquo's and Macbeth's different reactions reveal the following:

1. Macbeth takes the prophecy him becoming king seriously. That reveals he has an ambitious as well as superstitious character.

Banquo, on the other hand, is skeptical about the prophecy. He thinks the witches are trying to fool them and cause them harm. That shows he is reasonable and realistic.

2. After the prophecies, Macbeth begins to regard Banquo as an enemy. Banquo, on the other hand, still sees Macbeth as a friend. He has no idea Macbeth is willing to kill him in order to become king.

In the tragic play "Macbeth," by William Shakespeare, Macbeth and Banquo are best friends.

However, their personalities differ greatly. While Banquo is realistic and reasonable, Macbeth is superstitious, ambitious, and even violent.

Proof of that is how they react to the ambiguous prophecies by the three witches at the beginning of the play.

The witches suggest Macbeth will become king of Scotland. Macbeth chooses to believe the prophecy and do everything to make it happen - even kill if necessary.

Banquo does not believe the prophecy. He thinks the witches are just trying to hurt him and his friend.
