The intolerable acts were passed due to the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Tea party was an event that occured on December 16, 1773 in which colonists dressed as Native Americans attacked British ships. They dumped the tea the ships were carrying into the Harbor. The British reacted by enforcing the Intolerable Acts.
