Shah Abdul Latif was a great saint and Poet of sindh. He was born in 1689 at Hala Haveli. His father's name was Syed Habib Shah. His ancestors had migrated from Hirat and settled in Sindh during the days of Tamer lane. Shah Abdul latif was very thoughtful and fond of loneliness. He had a great love for knowledge and beauty of nature. When he was only a boy, he started composing poetry in the praise of Allah. At the age of twenty he married a noble and good lady but feel restlessness in normal domestic life. After the death of his father he left his home and began to live on a mound of sand called "Bhit" in sindhi language. His spiritual power grew stronger with prayer and devotion. So much so that, people began to be attracted towards him. Thus his devotees increased day by day. Latif's poetry has great uplifting and spiritual power, expressed in the language of common people. Lal latif died in 1752 on the mound,where he lived and he was buried there. His devotee Ghulam Shah Kalhoro built a shrine over his grave, where urs of shah held on 14 safer on Islamic calendar every year.
