"Both versions of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland show Alice’s struggle to keep up with a confusing world. The silent movie reveals this theme through the actions of the characters. The play does it through dialogue and description. I think the drama version does a better job of showing Alice’s struggles. The dialogue makes it easy to understand what Alice experiences. For example, in a scene at end, the play clearly shows how Alice’s thoughts are different from those of the creatures in Wonderland. The description of her arguments with the king and queen show her struggling to make sense of the absurd rules in Wonderland."
