A change in which Americans viewed human beings, which was a significant aspect of their religious lives. Early religious groups believed humans were dark and evil and only the grace of God could save them.
The second Great Awakening is significant because it changed the character of American religion. Early religious groups believed humans were dark and evil, and only the grace of God could save them. The religions following the second Great Awakening focused on humanity`s ability to change their circumstances. The basis of this was so that people had free will, and they could be "saved". This suggested that Salvation was available to everyone, and not only the wealthy. I hope this helped. :)
