Ho Chi-Minh was born on May 19, 1890, in Nghe An Province, Vietnam, and he was important because he led the movement for Vietnamese independence and unity through fights with France and the United States. He also served as president of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam from 1945 until his death in 1969.
