Authors create suspense from a lot of things. For example, they build up drama that's within the story and at the end of the book/movie or whatever they leave you on a cliffhanger. Have you ever read The Giver? Its like that, but some authors choose to leave pieces at the end for you to figure out what is gonna happen in the next book. Thats what I think anyways...
