In The Evening Bell of the Clock, Harunobu uses lines to help lead the eye to the clock located on the left of the print; it is also important to remark that the lines guides the eye to the eyes of the people in the print. He also used flat, solid color to fill shapes; he was famous for this. Finally, as seen in the bottom of the picture, he created a flattened space through a steeple tilted floor; this also seems to keep balance in the complete print, specially by pointing out how the people are located.
