The similarity between the Cold War and the War on Terror was the prevention of some political movements while the difference between both was the Islamic extremism in the War on Terror and the capitalism and communism in the Cold War. The Cold war has entirely changed the economy of the US country.

What was the Cold War?

The political conflicts between the country of the US and the Soviet Union after WWII led to the war named as Cold War.

After the Cold War, the political scenario of the developing countries got disturbed. The control of Western countries of Europe over colonies of Africa was getting reduced. After the collapse of the USSR in the year 1991, there was the formation of fifteen other countries.

The stopping of political movements was the similarity between both the wars but the difference was that the War on Terror focused on preventing the Islamic extremist movement whereas the capitalism and communist movements were the focus of the Cold War. After the Cold War, the global economy of the country of the US was changed as they were now more inclined toward diplomatic efforts and humanitarian aid to the other countries.

Therefore, the Cold War has a negative impact on the developing countries in terms of their political situation and there was a drastic change in the global role of the US after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
