Then of course the thing that really turned the tide was the nuclear war head that the US sent to Japan. Most people had no doubt that Japan would've kept fighting till there wasn't a single Japanese man in Japan to fight anymore. However, when the US showed that firepower of a nuclear warhead Japan surrendered and it was basically over for the Axis powers.
