Somatization is simply defined as the phenotypic expression of physiological problem or distress by the means of physical symptoms. It usually occur in people that are less than 30 years old that is characterized by a chronic and fluctuating diagnosis.

Somatoform disorders is usually characterized by physical symptoms with no apparent cause. That is they are disorders in which somatization takes key role.. it involves multiple, chronic, recurrent, and medically unexplained symptoms and spread across several organ systems. It has no physiological mechanisms and also have no evidence of psychological etiology. Some examples are:
