Community service and volunteer work should be done because the person wants to, not because they are being forced. Adding this requirement to graduate would not only force volunteer work, but could cause an unneeded obstacle for those already struggling to graduate. It's simply not necessary. Many people in high school already complete over 100 hours. These students are rewarded though cords and academic awards. Making this a requirement would mean their hard work would no longer be noticed. It would not mean as muchA lot of students may not have transportation to and from volunteer sites. This would be unfair to students who ride the bus because other rides are unavailable to them. These could be hardworking students that deserve to graduate but cannot due to this new rule.Community service should come from the heart. If students are forced to complete acts they don't want to do, it could leave a bad reputation for the school the student comes from. Students also would be untruthful if they hadn't completed said hours, and there would be no practical way to check the authensity of all of those hours from that many students.In conclusion, this would not be a good move to make. There are many school clubs whose sole purpose is community service. Making it where 100 community services hours is required to graduate would be an unessecary action.
