Muckrakers are considered to have done their work to curb monopolies and irrelevant political influence done by political parties by carrying out social movements and activities.

Their target was the underprivileged audience and the main motive was to prevent the over-privileged people to get things that are in scarce with the underprivileged people.

  • Few corporate monopolies took on undue and unfair advantages of their position in the market and exploited their customers and also put barriers for the new entrants in the market.

  • Political parties also did little but showed that they have achieved an impeccable work for the society which didn't even let the real social workers to raise their voices against such wrongdoings.

  • All this was being carried out by the muckrakers during the era of Progressive world being underway, where people were showing a secular and in-discriminating world but in vain.

Hence, the muckrakers carried most of their work in areas like monopolistic markets and places influenced by political party influences.
