Yes the nonviolent meetings and the lunch counter sit-ins were effective in the desegregation campaign for social change.

The desegregation campaign

This campaign was launched on the 3rd of April with a lot of non violent meetings, marches and boycotts.

This took place during the Birmingham campaign. These boycotts led to a crippling of business for the merchants.

Even though it took a while, the segregation laws were overturned.
