Kira’s Coffee Shop makes a blend that is a mixture of two types of coffee. Type A coffee costs Kira $5.85 per pound, and type B coffee costs $4.55 per pound This month, Kira made 172 pounds of the blend, for a total cost of $903.50 How many pounds of type A coffee did she use?

Respuesta :

So we know that she’s making a blend of Type A and Type B coffee.

If Type A = $5.85 per pound
And type B = $ 4.55 per pound,

Both type A and B together ( the mix ) is 10.4 per 2 pounds. To figure out what one pound of the mix costs you would have to divide $10.4 by 2 which gets you $5.2 per 1 pound of mixed coffee.

If this month Kira made $903.50 she made a pound of her mix 173.75 times,

5.2 X 173.75 = 903.50

So I belive if you want to know how much of type A she used you would have to separate Type A from Type B in 173.75 which gets you 86.875

So, correct me if I’m wrong but I believe Kira used 86.875 pounds of Type A coffee
